This region known as The Purbecks, has its own micro climate and has some of the highest sun hours and average temperatures in the country. Its coastline is recognised as nationally important for its wildlife and marine species. It is a World Heritage site. The geology is equally important and impressive, with visitors coming from around the world to study its rocks and fossils.
Mallards is approx 1.5 miles from Moreton train station which is on the main line to London Waterloo and Weymouth, and is 45 mins drive from Bournemouth airport.
Discover the beautiful Jurassic coast for yourself. You wont be disappointed! 40mins drive to Westbay, as seen in Broadchurch.
An ideal location for those guests who want to be close to the beautiful Jurassic coastline and the many tourist attractions on offer in and around Purbeck, Dorset, but out of the hustle and bustle that comes with staying in a B&B in busy tourist areas such as Corfe Castle or Lulworth cove, which is just 10 minute drive away.
The river Frome is just 100 mtrs from the front door of the B&B, a picturesque ford and long foot bridge over the river takes you to the forest beyond, so remember to pack your walking boots! There is an abundance of wildlife to look out for including sika deer, trout, barn owl, buzzard, kingfishers to name but a few. Moreton itself boasts beautiful Walled gardens where you can wander, or you can enjoy a delicious Dorset cream tea in the award winning Moreton tea rooms & bistro in the old village school, visit St Nicholas’ church and view the stunning famous etched windows or visit the burial place of Lawrence of Arabia.
TE Lawrence’s former cottage ‘Clouds Hill’ is about 7 mins drive away or a 2 mile walk through the forest. We are one of the closest B&B to Clouds Hill , Monkey world and Bovington tank museum.
Mallards B&B is also close to Wool, Wareham, Dorchester & Weymouth. We are centrally located in the heart of South Dorset countryside, 8 miles east of Dorchester, close to the coast, perfect for those who are travelling alone, cyclists and walkers or for those who want to just get away from it all for a couple of days or longer!
